Obasanjo and Jonathan

. One of the founding members of the ruling party and former Nigerian president, Olusegun Obasanjo has sent a letter to the National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, where he gave a notice of his withdrawal from activities of the party.

In the letter, Obasanjo said although he is still a card carrying member of the party, he will withdraw his activities with PDP at local, state, zonal and national level until a person he describes as a criminal wanted abroad to face criminal charges is removed as the party's South West zonal leader.

Obasanjo added that he was forwarding with the letter, “recent documents” on the alleged activities of the person. The letter, dated January 7th, was obtained by Tribune.

  1. Our duty to the Nation surpass that of individual ego. Criminals that are internationally wanted; being a party leader in a zone as South-West will only make PDP a failure even before election. Obasanjo knows his people and would rather stay away from such disaster predestined from beginning. Recently, Baba has really gain popularity by his habitual outburst and "open letter to the sitting president" which the president also replied openly. He is only dancing at late hour, the South-West has lost interest in PDP irrespective of whom is made the zonal leader.
