Namibian Police Force Deputy Commissioner Willy Bampton said that the burned out wreckage of the aircraft, which went missing on Friday, was found in the Bwabwata National Park, near the borders with Angola and Botswana.
“The plane has been completely burnt to ashes and there are no survivors,” Bampton said.

I won’t exchange words with Timaya –Empress

Empress Njamah has bluntly refused to react to her former boyfriend, Timaya, referring to their relationship as an ‘ugly episode’.
In a recent interview, the self styled Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa reportedly said, “You should not date somebody who already has a negative record. In my own case, it affected me at that time.”
Speaking to Saturday Beats on the phone recently, Empress said she wasn’t ready to talk about Timaya or his views about their relationship.
“People who are mature can depict what is true and what is not. I am not ready to say anything.”
Empress claimed the comment didn’t in any way, bother her.
“Why would it bother me? It is one thing to be hurt over such statement and another thing to be disappointed. I wasn’t hurt and I wasn’t even disappointed. Worst things have been said and written about me but the people who know who I am would tell the difference.”
Empress said she was more interested in what is happening in her life at the moment rather than talk about “what doesn’t make sense”.
“I am more involved with my birthday and celebrating it with the orphans and the less privileged. I am better off talking about this than to talk about what is not important. I am too busy making money. People who know you will always know how positive you have affected their lives. I am surrounded by so many people who have shown me love so there is no reason for me to be pained,” she said.

FG deploys Policemen to Federal Universities.

The Federal Government has directed the Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, to deploy policemen to all federal universities in the country  in its bid to ensure  resumption of academic activities in universities on or before December 4.
Saturday PUNCH learnt this development was disclosed  at  an emergency meeting   the Federal Government held  with  all vice-chancellors of federal universities at the National Universities Commission building in Abuja on Friday. The Acting Minister of Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, and the Executive Secretary of the NUC, Prof Julius Okojie, were also at the meeting.
Though Friday’s meeting was held behind closed door, a source at the meeting who craved anonymity because he was not authorised to speak with the press, told Saturday PUNCH  that the Federal Government  directed the IG  to draft policemen to federal universities to prevent members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities from disturbing some of their members that might want to resume work in line with government’s directive.
The meeting, Saturday PUNCH further learnt, also  discussed other  modalities for calling off the bluff of ASUU whose members  have been on strike for over five months.
The Friday meeting began at 9am and lasted for two hours. Part of the meeting’s deliberations, Saturday PUNCH gathered, also centred on how to recruit new lecturers to fill the space of ASUU members who might refuse to obey government’s  directive.  Also, the vice-chancellors were directed to call students back to campus on Sunday in preparation  for academic activities which should start on Monday.
Wike, had on Thursday  ordered  lecturers to resume duties on or before December 4 or face being sacked summarily by the Federal Government.
Saturday PUNCH learnt that already Okojie had been mandated to  start the process of recruiting new lecturers by placing vacancy adverts in international journals and media.
Also, the vice-chancellors were directed  to open registers in their institutions where ASUU members that resume work would sign so that those who failed to resume could be sacked.
Saturday PUNCH further learnt that the Federal Government was planning to adopt the Ghanaian method where lecturers were asked to re-apply for their jobs after two years of strike.
“Not all lecturers are members of ASUU. Most professors don’t belong to the union,  people think every lecturer in public university is a member of ASUU, which is not true. Government means business this time around and it is going to call  off the bluff of ASUU,’’ the source explained.
Nigerian universities are currently in need of at least 30,000 lecturers because of acute shortage of lecturers in the university system..
There are also indications that the Federal Government and university lecturers may be   heading for a clash as the  December 4 deadline given by the Federal Government for the lecturers to return to work is also the date set aside by ASUU to bury a former President of the union, Prof. Festus Iyayi.
Iyayi died in a ghastly auto accident along the Abuja-Lokoja Road when the vehicle in which he was travelling had a collision with the convoy of Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State on November 12, 2013.
The former ASUU chairman was on his way to Kano to attend a crucial meeting of the union which was called to deliberate on the Federal Government’s offer to the lecturers.
The Federal Government had claimed it decided to go tough on ASUU because the union made fresh demands  in its letter to the government as  a condition for calling  off the lingering strike action.
ASUU had demanded payment of the four-month salary arrears of its members from July when the strike commenced and the release  of N200bn that President Goodluck Jonathan promised to inject into the university system within the next two weeks.
The union also said the agreement reached between it and the Federal Government  should be signed by the Minister of Justice and the Attorney General of the Federation.
Though  the  President of ASUU, Dr. Nasir Faggae,  refused to pick his calls and also did not respond to a text message  sent to him on the latest development, the  Enugu State Police Command confirmed that its men had been directed to man universities  to quell any protest that might result from the Federal Government’s order on lecturers to resume work on or before Wednesday.
The command told Saturday PUNCH  that police officers had also  been directed to be stationed at the universities  to forestall any disturbance from various groups or lecturers on Monday.
“There is no cause for alarm and we are combat ready in the event of any violence or disturbance,” the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, said.
Also, the Police Public Relations Officer, Akwa Ibom State Command, Mr. Etim Dickson, confirmed that the police had been mandated to provide security for lecturers that want to resume work against molestation by their other colleagues, who may not want them to do so.
“We are not going to their houses to force them to come and teach in the universities. Even though the Federal Government has taken a stance, we are not in the military rule to molest lecturers,” he said.
But reacting to the latest development, the Chairman, ASUU, UNIBEN chapter, Emina-Monye, said ASUU members were not bothered about government’s   latest  strategy.
He said, “They can go ahead with that. We are not perturbed. Let them call the police; let them advertise vacant positions and see how many international scholars will want to accept what Nigerian university lecturers are taking- let them go ahead.”
Also, ASUU branch at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, said government’s directive  was an attempt to waste students’ time.
The UNIUYO ASUU Chairman, Dr. Nwachukwu Anyim, said in Uyo on Friday that Nigeria was no longer in  a military era  and so  lecturers could not  be coerced by anybody to work against their wish. He said, We will see how they will come to our homes and force us to resume work.
“Only the Federal Government  can tell the world what it has  in mind. We have a shortfall of 60,000 lecturers in the university system. If they are advertising this one, it means they must have an idea of where they are going to put them, and they must be people who are going to work without equipment.”
However, the University of Nigeria chapter of ASUU  on Friday said its members would not resume work  until their demands are met.
The UNN-ASUU also described the Minister of Education,  Wike, as a “tout”.
The union, however, told Saturday PUNCH that it won’t react officially to Wike’s order until President Goodluck Jonathan speaks.
“We have not heard from the President, so we cannot speak officially on the matter. It would be senseless to begin to react to a statement from Wike since he is a tout,” said Dr. Ifeanyi Abada, Chairman of UNN-ASUU.
Abada said that Wike’s order cannot hold and vowed that ASUU would unleash terror if the minister attempts to carry out the order.
“We stopped the late General Sani Abacha, so stopping Wike and these bloody civilians won’t be any problem to us,” Abada vowed.
Also, the Nigeria Labour Congress on Friday  described the action of Wike as hasty.
The  Acting General Secretary of the NLC, Mr. Chris Uyot, said in a telephone interview with  one of our correspondents  that Wike ought to have considered the circumstances that delayed the leadership of ASUU  from getting their resolutions to the government.
Uyot said that ASUU was not able to get the resolutions of the NEC meeting to the Federal Government because of the death of Iyayi.
Reacting to the latest development, Mr Femi Falana [SAN], said  President Goodluck Jonathan should call Wike  to order in the interest of the education system..
.He said  If Wike had familiarised himself with FG/ASUU face-off in the past two decades, even under the defunct military junta, he would have discovered that ASUU members had never been cowed to submission.
He said, “In 1992, the Ibrahim Babangida junta fired all lecturers and threatened to eject them from their official quarters. When the lecturers defied the junta a decree was promulgated which made strike by teachers a treasonable felony. ASUU also ignored the obnoxious decree  and called off the bluff of the military dictators. But at the end of the day it became clear to the regime that universities could not be run like military barracks. Hence the junta swallowed its pride, withdrew its empty threats and decided to honour the Agreement which it had rejected.’’

SHOCKING: Ex-footballer Discovers 3 Children With Wife Of 20-Years Are Not His

SHOCKING: Ex-footballer Discovers 3 Children With Wife Of 20-Years Are Not His

After over 20 years of marriage, former Aston Villa, PSV Eindhoven, Coventry City and the Ghana national team footballer, Nii Ordartey Lamptey, has just shockingly discovered that all 3 children he has fathered all these years with his wife are not his biological children.
The footballer made this shocking revelation during an interview on radio when he was asked why he and his wife were getting divorced.

"I thought they were my children but upon a DNA test, I got to know that they are not my biological children. The issue is in court so I’m pleading, because it is a legal issue I don’t want to go through so many things, but I am 100% sure that the children are not mine after 20-years of marriage. We had five children but two passed away so we were left with only 3 and they are not mine," Odartey said.
According to report, his wife known as Gloria Lamptey is claiming her husband, Odartey is infertile and he was the one who suggested they use artificial insemination. A claim Lamptey denies.
However, a source close to the former footballer said he'd on several occasions caught his wife cheating on him but stayed with her because of his love for her and the businesses they own together.
The estranged couple are now in court.

Don't feel guilty about that chocolate cake! Scientists find that people who don't worry about snacks are less likely to gain weight.

Next time you treat yourself to a sizeable slab of chocolate cake, make sure you enjoy every crumb.
Psychologists have discovered those of us who see it as something to celebrate are much more likely to stay slim. But if you are racked with guilt afterwards, the chances are you will pile on the pounds.
The findings, published in the latest online edition of the journal Appetite, show the way we perceive tasty treats like chocolate cake is just as important as the calorie count when it comes to expanding waistlines.

Feeling guilty is much more likely to prompt us to abandon diet and fitness plans and sink into a regime of unhealthy eating.
But viewing chocolate as a reward and something to be enjoyed means we have a better chance of sticking to long-term weight loss goals.

The UK is the seventh highest chocolate consumer in the world and the average person gets through around 17 pounds a year – the equivalent of around three bars a week.
Britain’s chocolate industry is reported to be worth in the region of £3.6 billion a year.
Chocolate is widely regarded as one of the most craved foodstuffs, loved for its taste, scent and texture.
But it is high in fat and sugar and snacking on chocolate treats has been shown to be a major risk factor for obesity.
The latest research, by experts at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, suggests the effect on human behaviour is also crucial.
Feeling guilty is much more likely to prompt us to abandon diet and fitness plans and sink into a regime of unhealthy eating
Feeling guilty is much more likely to prompt us to abandon diet and fitness plans and sink into a regime of unhealthy eating
Researchers Dr Roeline Kuijer  and Jessica Boyce wanted to test whether guilt from scoffing chocolate cake acted as an incentive to improve weight control, or undermined dieters’ determination to succeed.
They recruited almost 300 volunteers, aged from 18 to 86, and quizzed them on their eating habits and whether they were trying to lose weight.
They also asked them if eating chocolate cake made them feel happy or guilty.
The results showed 27 per cent associated it with guilt and 73 per cent with celebration.
When the researchers looked at weight control 18 months later, they found those riddled with guilt had gained significantly more.
‘Associating chocolate cake with guilt was related

to an increase in weight,’ the researchers said in a report on the findings.
‘But those who saw it as a celebration were, on average, more successful in losing weight.’
The study found guilt made people feel they had lost control of their eating because they indulged in cake. As a result, they were more inclined to abandon weight loss plans.
The researchers added: ‘Enjoyment of food is essential to people’s well-being. This study shows those who consume a ‘forbidden food’ with celebration and view it as a treat do better in terms of weight management.
‘Enjoyment of food should receive more attention than it has in the past.’
Psychologist Paul Buckley, from Cardiff Metropolitan University, said women tend to be affected more by guilty feelings than men when it comes to food.
‘I think people probably underestimate the effect food can have on behaviour.

‘These feelings of guilt are very similar to what happens with bulimia, where sufferers binge eat and then regret it afterwards.
‘But this type of behaviour can be deeply engrained and quite difficult to change.’

Three people are feared dead after a police helicopter crashed into the roof of an iconic pub in Glasgow city centre.
Dozens have been injured and emergency services had to dragg customers out of the premises after the aircraft fell from the sky 'like a stone'.
A police officer at the scene said there were a 'few confirmed deaths' but could not say how many.
Staff at Glasgow Royal Infirmary say nine people from the scene are being treated at the hospital with some said to have 'very serious injuries.'
The propeller blades are visible on the top of the roof as firefighters use cherry pickers to examine the site

Eyewitness Fraser Gibson, 34, who was in the pub with his brother to see his former band, said:
'Midway through their set it sounded like a giant explosion. The room was covered in dust.

'We didn’t know what had happened. We froze for a second; there was panic and then people trying to get out the door.’

Kim Kardashian the high-maintenance mom dolls up to hit the shops with Kanye West... but where's baby North ?

She may be a new mother, but Kim Kardashian is still finding time for her favourite things - fashion and shopping.
The reality TV star, 33, left baby five-month-old North behind - presumably with her nanny - to hit the sales in Miami with her fiance Kanye West on Friday.
While many parents battle fatigue in the early months of welcoming their first child, Kim looked remarkably well-rested and impeccably primped and preened in an edgy frock and killer heels.
Just the two of us: Kanye West and Kim Kardashian left their daughter North behind for a shopping trip in Miami on Friday

Her pristine appearance was probably hours in the making, with her hair, make-up, manicure and outfit all styled to perfection.
Kanye also looked bright-eyed, and at one point even managed to crack a smile while whispering sweet nothings to his girl.
The couple spent the Thanksgiving holiday in Florida, skipping the Kardashian and Jenner's big
family gathering in L.A.
And as several members of her family tweeted snapshots of their feast, Kim gave a shout out to her
best friends over Instagram.

Gov Fashola- Stella Oduah's Car will buy 51 police vehicles.

Stella Oduah’s armoured cars will buy 51 police patrol vehicles' -Gov Fashola

During the 7th annual Town Hall Meeting on Security held in Lagos, Governor Fashola said the two BMW cars bought for Stella Oduah will purchase 51 patrol vehicles for the Nigerian Police.
"It is sad to know that the Federal Government that allocate three patrol vehicles for one state police command of 370, 000 police men, is unable to resolve how N255 million was used to purchase 2 saloon vehicles for one officer. It is a very grave irony. The cost of average vehicle needed to patrol the state is just N5 million. And with such fund, we will have put at least 51 patrol vehicles on the road, patrolling the streets of Lagos.”
"In spite of all this, they resist the idea of a state police. The money from the fund was in the last one year used to provide vehicles for the Nigerian Prison Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, National Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC and indeed the airport wing of the Nigerian police, is funded from this money. And it is the same aviation ministry that manage the airport that we had this very odious car scandal of N255 million.” (PM News)

Why I haven't been to Nigeria until now.

US rapper Wale explains why he's never been to Nigeria until now

In a radio chat with Toolz on Beatfm yesterday, Wale said the reason he's never been to Nigeria until now was because his parents, who are both from Ondo state, were so poor they couldn't afford a bring him home.
"I grew up poor. We lived in DC, in the projects. Getting a ticket to Nigeria on $20, 000 income yearly, to my family that wasn't really... you know...like I was a 15 year old with a decent job, I'm not going to save up to go to Nigeria. That wasn't
what I was thinking when I was that age. And then I was in college and the money tight right then. And then I get this record deal when I dropped out of school, you're running around so much you don't even have time to see your own parents"

The Nigerian New National ID Card Will Come With MasterCard Chip And PIN

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) representative described the advantages of the new national identity card. Apart from many other things, it may also be used as an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card anywhere in the world where there is MasterCard logo.
Briefing journalists today in Abuja, NIMC’s Director of Technical Services, Mr Emmanuel Ogungbe disclosed the Commission have already signed an agreement with MasterCard.
He explained that, besides being just an ID card, it is also a cash card, so the holder can withdraw money in any place. Moreover, especially within the West African sub-region, it soon would become possible to travel with this card only, passport-free.
new_nid_cardMr. Ogungbe called the card “a general-multi-purpose card”. All the holder needs to do, he maintained, is to present it at the point of entry of any country. After the information is checked, the entry would be allowed.
Mr. Ogungbe stressed the new card is “error-proof,” and thus, secure.
“We have a system called automated biometrics identification system in our data centre that checks
information of newly registered people coming into the database against what we already have in the database,” he said. “If there is a hit, that means that person was registered before, and, of course, this means we  deny new registration.
“So, there is no way of beating that system for now; I’m very confident of that. That will ensure that you can only register once.”
The card is supposed to assist in tracking criminals as well.
“What the bad elements do is to hide in a way that you won’t be able to capture them. But we are saying with this [ID card] we know who they are and we will be able to very easily locate them.” Mr. Ogungbe said. If any fingerprints are lifted at the crime scene, it is enough to send them to NIMC – and they will disclose full details on the culprits.
“Talk about even fraud in the banks, where someone will obtain a loan in a particular bank, move on to the next bank without servicing the previous loan to obtain another loan; that will become a thing of the past,” Mr. Ogungbe added.
“Because once the bank takes your national identification number, it can see all your various transactions, all various businesses that you have with all the other banks.”
He said that government had asked the commission to ‘register every single Nigerian and legal residents’ but warned the aliens against any attempt to use the card to commit crimes.
“If you are an alien and you think you can continue doing that and go scot-free, then the person’s time is numbered because very soon, we will get to him or her,” he assured.

Police ignorant of laws on Detention- Survey

Most policemen in Lagos State are ignorant of laws regarding detention and arrests of suspects, a new survey has revealed
The survey, which was conducted by a human rights organisation, Access to Justice, also showed that the judicial reforms introduced by the state government had not changed the landscape of criminal justice.
Head of Programmes, Access to Justice, Mr. Leonard Dibia, said this during a public presentation of findings of a field survey on the state of compliance with the Lagos State Administration of Criminal Justice Law.
Dibia noted that the state government had passed a new Administration of Criminal Justice Law in 2011 which was intended to replace the old Criminal Procedure Law of Lagos State, 2004.
He said the reforms were meant to “ease prison congestion, end the abuse of the remand system, improve delivery of criminal justice services by the courts and safeguard the rights of persons who are processed through criminal justice system.”
Dibia said the new law meant that suspects should not be detained by the police for more than 24 hours without the knowledge of a magistrate. But according to the survey, which was conducted between May and July 2013, most policemen were not aware of this.
Dibia noted that confessional statements in police detention should be video recorded or done in the presence of a lawyer.
He said, “From AJ’s findings, only 29 per cent of police officers in Lagos State are familiar with the ACJ law of 2011 or have received any formal training on the provisions of the law. Magistrates unanimously report that the police do not usually inform them of cases of persons who are arrested and kept in custody without being offered bail or of persons who are arrested without a warrant and are detained without any charges brought to court.
“Corroborating this, 92 per cent of police officers interviewed indicated that they do not notify district magistrates of cases of persons arrested. Indeed, 70 per cent of police officers interviewed reported that they are not aware of this requirement of the law.
“The law provides that upon arrest, there should be notification of the cause of arrest. However, 65 per cent of police officers reported that they usually inform suspects of the cause of arrest only at the point of detention after the suspect arrives at the police station.
“Still in connection with bail, nine per cent of police officers maintain the practice of not accepting women as sureties when granting bail.”
Dibia recommended that law enforcement agents should be given training as regards the law to improve adherence.

Actress Eucharia Anunobi loses Relevance

Before now, the Imo State born actress, Eucharia Anunobi was a toast of every movie producer who always wanted to have her face adorned their movie jackets. This was in the 90s through the early 2000s.
Gradually her popularity started dwindling, but she managed to keep afloat despite her ordination as an Evangelist.
From the look of things, it’s obviously the lady evangelist has lost touch with her social life and this has made the actress left the social and entertainment scene completely. This is because after the mention of her evangelical mission in Senegal four months ago, nothing has been heard about her again.
Sources even whispered to Nigeriafilms.com that the Glamour Girls star has equally left her Facebook account in a limbo for the past four months. Her action for this is not known yet.
It appears that Eucharia Anunobi is focusing her attention more on church services, and has also dumped the idea of publicising her activities. Do you think leaving social media is a good idea?
