The Associated Press are now reporting that Pele's spokesman is playing down his illness.

The hospital have revealed that the doctors responsible for the "athlete of the century" are Dr Fabio Nasri, Dr Gustavo Caserta Lemos.
Dr Nasri is a leading endocrinologist who specialises in geriatric patients.
Dr Lemos is a urologist, dealing mainly with maladies of the urological and reproductive system.

The hope now is that things aren't as bad as first feared.
Pele is in a special care unit, and we know he has been struggling with infection, but his former personal assistant insists this move is as much to give him peace and quiet as specific treatment.
The hospital's statement doesn't shed much light at this juncture.

A statement from the Albert Einstein Hospital said: “ Edson Arantes do Nascimento (Pele) was admitted with clinical instability.
"To receive the best care, he was transferred to be monitored in a special care unit."

"Clinical instability"
Reuters are reporting the latest from Jose Fornos Rodrigues - Pele's former aide - as the Brazilian legend moving to a new wing due to "clinical instability."
The move is reportedly also to protect the three-time World champion's privacy where he can't be beseiged by so many visitors.
"He was uncomfortable with so many people coming," Rodrigues said.
"It'll be quieter now."

Pele is currently being treated at the Albert Einstein Hospital, a state-of-the-art facility in the Ibirapuera region of Sao Paulo.
The 74-year-old is originally from the neighbouring state of Minas Gerais, in the south-east region of Brazil.
His first admission to hospital on November 13 came after he was forced to cancel an appearance at a museum with severe stomach cramps.
“He had some tests and will be discharged tomorrow. Everything is fine,” said Jose Fornos Rodrigues, his former aide, at the time.

Brazilian legend Pele is in an intensive care unit after his condition worsened during a stay in hospital.
The 74-year-old, real name Edson Arantes do Nascimento, was admitted for the second time this month on Tuesday.
And his urinary infection is thought to have worsened, leading doctors to take the three-time World Cup winner into the ICU.
The former footballer, who is now famous for his humanitarian work, had an operation on November 12 to remove kidney stones and was discharged on November 15 before being re-admitted this week.
