Man, 25, 'killed 52-year-old grandmother and stole her credit card to buy waffles before returning to have sex with her corpse'

A Florida man murdered a 52-year-old woman, used her credit card to go and eat at a waffle house, and then returned to the scene and had sex with her body for hours, according to police. 

Timothy Johnson, 25, was arrested in connection to the murder of Judith Therianos who was visiting Florida as a tourist from Maine.  

Police say that Johnson killed Therianos while they were having sex.

Officials believe that Therianos may have wanted Johnson to stop and that's when he allegedly murdered her. An autopsy revealed that Therianos died from blunt force trauma.

Police say that Johnson had sex with the dead woman's body 'for a while,' after killing her. 

According to an arrest affidavit, Johnson stole a credit card from Therianos and went to Waffle House and ate before returning to have sex with her decomposing corpse, report ABC.

Buhari seeks World Bank’s help to revive economy

The Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of the World Bank, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, held talks with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja on Wednesday on how the bank could help Nigeria overcome an economic crisis caused mainly by a sharp fall in crude prices that has eaten deep into its oil revenues.

The Federal Government is planning to borrow N1.8tn from abroad and at home to help fund the over N6tn budget for this year, which has been delayed by several months due to wrangling between the Presidency and the National Assembly.

“We would like to know how we can help Nigeria to make the very important decisions, whether on micro economic policy or other sectoral policy, that will make this economy move forward to become a strong middle income country,” she said.Although Nigeria has held talks with the World Bank over a possible loan or credit facility in recent months, Indrawati did not address this when speaking to reporters after the meeting.

150 females raped, 31 babies abandoned in Lagos

No fewer than 150 females were raped, while 31 babies were abandoned on the streets of Lagos in the last one year.

The Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, said this at a press briefing in Ikeja on Tuesday.

“Also, a total of 57,350 schoolchildren benefitted from individual and group counselling sessions to curb truancy, gangsterism and other social vices. About 150 reported cases of sexual abuse and physical abuse were treated. Five pregnant schoolchildren were assisted to access adequate antenatal and delivery services. They were also integrated back into school,” she added.Akinbile-Yussuf explained that 150 reported cases of sexual and physical abuse were officially recorded, while five pregnant schoolchildren were assisted to access adequate ante-natal and delivery services and were also integrated back into school.

Police abandoned us during herdsmen invasion – Enugu community

Source: The people of Ukpabi Nimbo, a community in the Uzo-Uwani area of Enugu State, which was attacked by Fulani herdsmen on Monday, have blamed security agencies for failing to act on “credible” information they provided before the attack.

The villagers, who said this when the Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, visited the community on Tuesday, stated that they were abandoned even after they alerted security agencies to the plan to attack them.

Security was beefed up in the community during the visit, with heavily armed military and police personnel positioned at strategic locations.The General Officer Commanding, 82 Division, Enugu, Major General Attahiru Ibrahim, and the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State, Nwodibo Ekechukwu, were also in the village on Tuesday.

A community leader, Dr. George Ajogu, who spoke on behalf of the people of Ukpabi Nimbo at the village square, said the villagers were not taken unawares by the attack.

President Muhammadu Buhari has commenced moves to address food scarcity and increase in food prices currently being witnessed across the country.

He has therefore ordered that 10,000 tonnes of grains should be released from the national strategic grains reserves for distribution nationwide.

Shehu added that the President had directed the Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh, to assist able-bodied men and women currently holed up in Internally Displaced Persons camps across the country to return to farming.The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, who stated this  in a statement in Abuja on Sunday, also quoted Buhari as telling Nigerians that his promised change would not happen overnight.

Teenager kills landlady, daughter, grandchildren, reports to police

An 18-year-old man, identified simply as Sunday, is currently in the police custody in Abuja after he allegedly killed his parents’ landlady, identified only as Mama Moses.

The suspect was also accused of killing the landlady’s daughter and her three grandchildren.

It was gathered that Sunday locked the deceased in their apartment after they had slept in the night, sprayed the house with petrol and set it ablaze afterwards.It was gathered that the suspect, who lived with his parents in the landlady’s residence at Tudun-Fulani, in the Bwari area of the Federal Capital Territory, reported himself to the police after committing the crime.

Campaign funds: Jonathan’s minister returns N23m to FG

Source: The Director of Finance of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation, Senator Nenadi Usman, has returned N23m to the Federal Government.

Usman was last Thursday arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for allegedly receiving N2.5bn which emanated from the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The police claimed that Masri forged the said Nigerian citizenship confirmation letter with reference number MIA/NAT 382/1 with the intent it might be acted upon as genuine.

Masri, who was said to own two construction companies along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, was on Thursday arraigned before a Lagos State Magistrate’s Court in Igbosere.The foreigner was accused of falsely and fraudulently presenting himself as a Nigerian citizen by birth, an act the police said was contrary to and punishable under sections 363 (3)(4)(O), 409 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.

SAD: Couple found dead in apartment in Ondo

A  man, Mr. Femi Oguntunwase,  and his wife, Modupe,were found dead in their house in the new site area of Oba Ile town in the Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

A source in the town said the cause of the death of the couple had yet to be known, adding that their lifeless bodies were found on the floor of the sitting room of their apartment on Saturday.

A resident of the area, who identified himself only as Seluwa, said the couple was seen in the morning of the day, adding that neighbours were surprised to find them dead in the afternoon.The source said the husband was on the ground naked, while the wife was also on the floor in a T-shirt and a wrapper with a bottle of palm oil beside them.

There was a fire outbreak at Ladipo Auto spare parts market, Mushin Lagos at about 2 am yesterday morning which razed about 50 shops to the ground.

Soldiers arrest 92 armed herdsmen in Abuja

The soldiers of the Guards Brigade of the Nigeria Army have arrested 92 Fulani herdsmen in Abuja.

The Assistant Director, Army Public Relations of the Guards Brigade, Capt. Bashir Jajira, said that 36 of the suspects were arrested by the troops at a military checkpoint between the Federal Capital Territory and Nasarawa State.

He said that 56 others who were also armed were arrested by the soldiers at a military checkpoint at Dantata, along the Abuja Airport Road.The suspected herdsmen were said to have told the soldiers that they were on a mission to recover their stolen cows.

705,352 apply for 10,000 police jobs ..........WAHALA

The Police Service Commission has received 705,352 applications from candidates seeking employment into the Nigeria Police Force.

A breakdown of the applications showed that 202, 427 applicants have successfully applied for the position of Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, 169,446 for the position of Cadet Inspector and 333,479 for the position of Constables.

It said that the PSC Chairman, Dr. Mike Okiro, confirmed that the application process had been smooth and transparent, adding that the commission was committed to making the recruitment a huge success.A statement by the Head, Press and Public Relations, PSC, Ikechukwu Ani, on Tuesday in Abuja, explained that the commission planned to recruit 500 Cadet ASPs, 500 Cadet Inspectors, 1,500 Specialist Officers and 7, 500 Constables to meet President Muhammadu Buhari’s approved 10,000 new entrants into the Force.

EFCC uncovers 37,395 ghost workers on FG payroll

Source: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said in Abuja on Tuesday that it had detected 37,395 ghost workers on the payroll of the federal civil service.

The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the Acting Chairman of INEC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, announced the figure at an anti-corruption sensitisation programme.

Magu said that apart from the widespread procurement frauds in Ministries, Departments and Agencies, the issue of ghostworkers was a source of serious concern for the commission.

“The EFCC has uncovered 37,395ghost workers in the federal civil service. And investigation is still going on.He said that current investigations by the EFCC had revealed that the Federal Government lost about N1bn to ghost workers recently.

More than 400 migrants drown in the Mediterranean after four overcrowded boats capsized whilst crossing from Egypt to Italy.

Dozens of African migrants have reportedly drowned after a boat carrying 400 people capsized in the Mediterranean Sea. 

Most of the 400 migrants aboard the boat were fleeing from Somalia, Ethiopia and Eritrea and had been hoping to reach Italy.

Somali media reports say that rescue workers have only managed to save 29 passengers from waters after the shocking incident.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned an American businessman, Marco Ramirez, alongside his companies — Eagle Ford Instalodge Group LP and USA Now LLC — on eight counts bordering on obtaining money by false pretences to the tune of $2.3m.

Ramirez was arraigned before Justice Peter Affen of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, sitting in Maitama on Monday, according to a statement by the EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren.

The Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj. Gen. Lucky Irabor, said this in the text of a press briefing on the recovered arms and ammunition, forwarded to our correspondent that the troops recovered the items following a tip off.

According to him, the items recovered  included 36 boxes of .51mm  calibre, 5 x 20 Lyra beefcake mixture of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, large quantity of 7.62mm (Special), ammunition and one 81mm mortar tube.He said that the troops and some members of the civilian  JTF were mobilised for a clearance operation at Borgozo-Alargana following the intelligence, where the items were recovered.
