Celine Dion's husband Rene Angelil has stepped down as her manager.
The 72-year-old, who has managed his wife for the past 30 years, has appointed his long-time friend Aldo Giampaolo to take his place.
The announcement was made through a statement from Dion's management team Feeling Productions, according to
'It is with great pleasure and with the utmost confidence that Rene Angelil announces today that his long-time close friend, Aldo Giampaolo, has been appointed as chief executive officer of Feeling Productions Inc,' the company stated.
'Celine and Rene have decided that the time has come to bring this appointment to fruition, one that Rene had proposed to Aldo several years ago.'
Rene met Celine, now 46, when was still just a teenager. They then embarked on a romantic relationship when she was 19-year-old and he was 45.
The My Heart Will Go On singer put her career on hold in 1999 as Rene battled throat cancer.
The singer briefly retired from performing in 1999 when her husband was battling throat cancer.
But in December last year People reported that Rene underwent surgery to have a tumor from his throat removed.

'I don't want Rene to stress out with work-related issues,' Dion stated to the publication in March.
'I want him to focus on getting back to 100%. I've been doing my shows at the Colosseum (in Las Vegas) and everything's under control,' she added.
Celine and Rene currently live in Las Vegas with their three children.
