17-yr-old Beninoise wife poisons 32-yr-old husband over boyfriend in Lagos

A Beninoise, Kwenume Ojo, aka Abiodun, has been arrested by men of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly killing her husband, Jimoh Ojo, 32, in the Yaba area of the state.

It was reported that Kwenume put poison in her husband’s soft drink and forced it down his throat while he slept on the bed.

Our correspondent gathered that the 17-year-old suspect took the poison from a relative of her boyfriend after she was forced to marry Jimoh.

The incident happened on Friday on Apolo Street, the Makoko area of Lagos.

The driver and security guard of former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure, Ondo state who was found dead inside a store in his home in Ijapo estate in Akure yesterday June 28th have given a vivid description of how they killed him.

Bamidele, who was fired by the late don for attempting to steal his car some months back, said he connived with Daniel Ita the security guard to carry out the act. He said Daniel lured the old man out of the main house before he strangled him to death.

My new movie, Dry, is going to be released in August; that’s the official release date. We are planning a premiere and hopefully, we will invite people to see the movie.

Why did you include Liz Benson in the cast?

Why not include her? Is she not an actress? I had Liz Benson in mind when I was writing the script for the movie and I knew that she had been out of the movie scene for a couple of years. I felt my story would be the movie that would bring her out again and it did. She read the script, fell in love with it and agreed to take part in the movie.

US will assist us to recover stolen funds –Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday said his administration had received firm assurances of cooperation from the United States and other countries in his quest to recover and repatriate funds stolen from Nigeria.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President spoke while granting audience to members of the Northern Traditional Rulers Council led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Adesina quoted Buhari as saying that it was now up to Nigeria to provide the international community with the facts and figures needed to drive the recovery effort.

He said he would be busy, in the next three months, getting the facts that would help in recovering the stolen funds.

Boko Haram kills 35 in Yobe, Borno villages

AT least, 35 persons were killed and scores injured when Boko Haram insurgents attacked Nannawaji village, in the Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State and Debiro, in the Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State on Tuesday.

In Yobe, a female suicide bomber detonated an Improvised Explosive Devices strapped on her at a market in Nannawaji.

No fewer than 15 persons were killed in the attack while 26 others sustained injuries, Yusuf Ibrahim, a resident of the village, told our correspondent on the phone.

Lord's Chosen Pastor Shot Dead In Lagos by unknown gunmen

Unknown gunmen on Monday, shot dead Lagos State Coordinator of The Lord’s Chosen Charis-matic Revival Ministries, Pastor Chukwuemeka Okpokpo, at Apple Junction, Amuwo Odofin area of the state.

The gunmen, said to have used a motorcycle, reportedly trailed the deceased from a Diamond Bank branch, where he had gone to withdraw N3 million for the church.They reportedly fired shots into the air, which sent other road users and passers-by scampering for safety....Reports said Pastor Okpokpo tried to escape when it became obvious that he was the target.

The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned a 52-year-old school teacher, Isaac Ikiabeke, for allegedly raping a 5-year-old pupil in the Ikorodu area.

 

Ikiabeke, who is the proprietor of the school, Brighter Glory School, located on Etunrere Street, raped his victim after school hours.

The victim, five-year-old Pat (not her real name), said Ikiabeke had allegedly raped her 10 times.

She said,

“He has been doing it for some time. He has done it more than 10 times. I am not the only one. He does it with some of us after school hours. I could not tell anybody because he said if I did he would beat me.”

An increasing number of adults are drinking breast milk, convinced that the health benefits it provides to infants could boost their fitness and immune systems.

Internet forums match buyers with breast-feeding mothers who have excess milk to sell.

Fetching £50 a pint or more, the milk is offered either fresh or frozen, and is often available by post.

UK doctors warn that the unlicensed breast milk market is posing a growing danger to health.

38 people have been confirmed dead after Boko Haram members attacked two villages in South East of Niger republic. Women and children are said to be the main victims in the attack which happened last night June 17th. The Nigerien Interior Minister, Hassoumi Massaoudou spoke  this attack:

"Members of the Boko Haram terrorist group have attacked the villages of Lamana and Ngoumao… The initial death toll is 38 civilians, among them 14 men, 14 women and 10 children.”

Gunman kills nine after worshipping in African-American Church

The police have arrested Dylann Roof, a 21-year-old suspected to have shot dead nine people including a United States senator at the historic African-American church in Charleston, South Carolina.

The police said Roof, who resided in Lexington, South Carolina, was detained during a traffic stop in Shelby, North Carolina.

The gunman is reported to have sat in on a bible study meeting for a full hour before opening fire on the group.

The BBC reports that six women and three men, including the church pastor, who is also a US Senator, Clementa Pinckney, were killed. A hate crimes’ investigation has also been launched.

Our correspondent gathered that Pinckney, the 42-year-old pastor of the church, was also a Democratic state senator in South Carolina.

Sir Elton John's husband David Furnish bought a London flat for a long-time male friend, according to a new report, who has also enjoyed first class holidays around the world on behalf of the star.

David, 52, met 33-year-old Danny Williams on a night out clubbing in the capital, and quickly struck up a friendship, a report in.

2013 Land Registry documents show David, who married Elton in December, paid in excess of £330,000 for a two bedroom flat in South London for Danny.

These unsettling images show dozens of migrants wrapped in emergency blankets clinging to rocks off the Italian coast after spending last night in the open.

The group of around 50 are huddled together under a bleak grey sky in Ventimiglia, a town right on the border with France. 

Italian police moved in yesterday to disperse around 200 migrants who were staging a sit-in at a border crossing after French police refused to let them enter the country.

Tears as Buhari, wife meet Chibok girls’ mothers

Tears flowed freely on Friday as President Muhammadu Buhari; his wife, Aisha; and the wife of the Vice President, Dolapo Osinbajo, met with two women whose daughters are among the over 200 missing Chibok girls.

The emotional-laden encounter took place inside the Defence House, Abuja, where Buhari currently operates from.

Mrs. Osinbajo had earlier led the two women to a meeting with Hajia Buhari.

The President’s wife later led them into another round of meeting with Buhari.

By the time they emerged from the meeting and posed for photographs, the two women again broke down in tears while Mrs. Buhari held them tightly.

Mrs. Osinbajo also joined in the weeping.

Nine pregnant girls rescued from Enugu baby factory by the Nigerian Police.

The Enugu State Police Command on Saturday rescued nine pregnant girls during a raid on a baby factory at the 9th Mile area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, said that the baby factory belonged to Ikechukwu Onoh who ran the baby factory from his home. Onoh was arrested during the raid and the girls are now in Police custody

I saw this piece and decided to share, funny though.... As weird as it may probably seem, a man told Saturday PUNCH recently that he broke up with his wife of two years because she used to fart frequently. Because they had no issue, he said it was easier for him to break up. He complained that he couldn’t keep up with a partner who farts frequently as it affects him psychologically. Due to this revelation, some Nigerians were asked whether they too could break up with partners who fart often

It’s a natural phenomenon, who does not fart? I think breaking up because he farts too much is not the solution. It is an action taken too extreme. Imagine being asked by a friend or a family member the cause of our separation and I tell them it’s because he farts too much. I assume their response would be, “you’re probably insane.” And if you really look at the matter, it’s insanity. I can’t condone a partner who lacks etiquettes, but all the same, one should tread carefully and resolve issues more in a mature manner.

A Nigerian defender has died, three minutes into a football match in Malaysia.30 yar old David Faramola Oniya died on Saturday after collapsing on the pitch during a friendly match between his Malaysian club T-Team and Kelantan. 

According to Local media ,he collapsed three minutes into the match in Kota Bharu and was taken to hospital.T-Team CEO Syahrizan Mohd Zain said Oniya did not receive medical treatment quick enough.

Buhari will be departing Nigeria for South Africa on Saturday, June 13, to attend the 25th African Union Summit which is currently taking place in Johannesburg.

SAD!!! 14-year-old flees home after dad raped her twice

Punch: The police in Lagos have arrested a man, Waheed Adeboye, for allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter, Aminat (not real name), in the Adamo, Ikorodu in Lagos.

It was learnt that the day after Aminat was allegedly raped by her father, the teenager, who is a Senior Secondary School one pupil, fled from home and later found succour with a middle-aged woman in a nearby church.

It was gathered that 49-year-old Waheed, who worked as a plank seller in Ikorodu, lost his first wife, who was also Aminat’s mother, to an illness in 2007.

It was learnt that the suspect, who later remarried, lived with the four children that his late wife left behind.
