Defeated Anambra governorship candidate, Senator Chris Nwabueze Ngige, has made good his threat to challenge the election of Chief Willie Obiano as the next governor of the state.
Ngige yesterday lodged a suit at the Anambra State Election Petition Tribunal, according to an impeccable source who spoke with News Express.
The source disclosed that the suit was filed by Ngige’s younger brother, Chief Emeka Ngige, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
“The suit includes a motion exparte for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow him to inspect materials used for the governorship election,” the source said.
Ngige, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), came third in the election the result of which was announced on Sunday morning. He scored 95,953 votes as against 180,178 votes by Obiano and 97,700 votes by second-placed Comrade Tony Nwoye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Obiano extended a hand of fellowship to Ngige and other defeated candidates in his victory speech and while receiving the Certificate of Return from INEC yesterday in Awka, the state capital.
