The residence was opened in 2006 and is the brainchild of Carmen Munoz, a former sex worker herself who petitioned various governments and agencies for so many years before finally getting being gifted the facility by the municipal government.
Over 250 women have now been helped by the unusual facility, but living there--just like living anywhere for these women--is not always easy. This is life after the streets, the retires sex workers around the world with similar experience live out their lives in peace.

Sad tales: These are the belongings of a resident named Laeticia, originally from Chihuahua. She became a prostitute after leaving behind her husband who beat her and slept with other women along with their children.
