Lewis Webb assaulted his ex-girlfriend, crashed his mum's car before setting off on a spree of violence causing thousands of pounds worth of damage
A jilted lover who smashed 28 car windscreens on a drug-fuelled rampage has been jailed for three years.
Lewis Webb assaulted his ex-girlfriend before setting off on a spree through Horfield in Bristol.
After Elizabeth Rowe ended their brief relationship Webb assaulted her, crashed his mum's car into a taxi cab and took a claw hammer to a line of parked cars causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.
Police were called but on arrival Webb turned on them, shattering a squad car's screen before officers detained him with a combination of a stun gun, baton rounds, CS spray and a police dog.
The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to assault, causing criminal damage, affray and possessing an offensive weapon.
Upon sentencing at Bristol Crown Court, Judge Julian Lambert was withering in his appraisal of Webb's actions.
"You went along a quiet street wreaking absolute havoc," he said. “People would have been utterly terrified."
Disabled resident Chris Monks, whose car was one of those damaged, was present at court 'so he could look Webb in the eye.'
Monks suggested that a large proportion of the homeowners on the street were elderly and would have been extremely frightened by the incident.
"When you get a person walking down the street, hitting cars and all, would you want to live there?," he told the court.
As well as the jail term a restraining order was imposed banning Webb from contacting his ex for 10
years.
