A growing market in the online sale of human breast milk is creating a serious health risk, doctors have warned.

British experts are concerned that the booming craze for breast milk - which is bought by adult fitness fanatics or those who have chronic diseases - could spread life-threatening disease.

An increasing number of adults are drinking breast milk, convinced that the health benefits it provides to infants could boost their fitness and immune systems.

Internet forums match buyers with breast-feeding mothers who have excess milk to sell.

Fetching £50 a pint or more, the milk is offered either fresh or frozen, and is often available by post.

UK doctors warn that the unlicensed breast milk market is posing a growing danger to health.

Gunman kills nine after worshipping in African-American Church

The police have arrested Dylann Roof, a 21-year-old suspected to have shot dead nine people including a United States senator at the historic African-American church in Charleston, South Carolina.

The police said Roof, who resided in Lexington, South Carolina, was detained during a traffic stop in Shelby, North Carolina.

The gunman is reported to have sat in on a bible study meeting for a full hour before opening fire on the group.

The BBC reports that six women and three men, including the church pastor, who is also a US Senator, Clementa Pinckney, were killed. A hate crimes’ investigation has also been launched.

Our correspondent gathered that Pinckney, the 42-year-old pastor of the church, was also a Democratic state senator in South Carolina.

Sir Elton John's husband David Furnish bought a London flat for a long-time male friend, according to a new report, who has also enjoyed first class holidays around the world on behalf of the star.

David, 52, met 33-year-old Danny Williams on a night out clubbing in the capital, and quickly struck up a friendship, a report in.

2013 Land Registry documents show David, who married Elton in December, paid in excess of £330,000 for a two bedroom flat in South London for Danny.

The group of around 50 are huddled together under a bleak grey sky in Ventimiglia, a town right on the border with France. 

Italian police moved in yesterday to disperse around 200 migrants who were staging a sit-in at a border crossing after French police refused to let them enter the country.

Tears as Buhari, wife meet Chibok girls’ mothers

Tears flowed freely on Friday as President Muhammadu Buhari; his wife, Aisha; and the wife of the Vice President, Dolapo Osinbajo, met with two women whose daughters are among the over 200 missing Chibok girls.

The emotional-laden encounter took place inside the Defence House, Abuja, where Buhari currently operates from.

Mrs. Osinbajo had earlier led the two women to a meeting with Hajia Buhari.

The President’s wife later led them into another round of meeting with Buhari.

By the time they emerged from the meeting and posed for photographs, the two women again broke down in tears while Mrs. Buhari held them tightly.

Mrs. Osinbajo also joined in the weeping.

Nine pregnant girls rescued from Enugu baby factory by the Nigerian Police.

The Enugu State Police Command on Saturday rescued nine pregnant girls during a raid on a baby factory at the 9th Mile area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, said that the baby factory belonged to Ikechukwu Onoh who ran the baby factory from his home. Onoh was arrested during the raid and the girls are now in Police custody

Imagine being asked by a friend or a family member the cause of our separation and I tell them it’s because he farts too much. I assume their response would be, “you’re probably insane.” And if you really look at the matter, it’s insanity. I can’t condone a partner who lacks etiquettes, but all the same, one should tread carefully and resolve issues more in a mature manner.

Punch: The police in Lagos have arrested a man, Waheed Adeboye, for allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter, Aminat (not real name), in the Adamo, Ikorodu in Lagos.

It was learnt that the day after Aminat was allegedly raped by her father, the teenager, who is a Senior Secondary School one pupil, fled from home and later found succour with a middle-aged woman in a nearby church.

It was gathered that 49-year-old Waheed, who worked as a plank seller in Ikorodu, lost his first wife, who was also Aminat’s mother, to an illness in 2007.

It was learnt that the suspect, who later remarried, lived with the four children that his late wife left behind.

EFCC arraigns 14 foreigners for smuggling fuel

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday charged 14 nationals of Britain, Russia, Ukraine and Japan with illegally trading and storing petroleum products.

The anti-graft agency arraigned the accused in a Lagos High Court for conspiring to store 4,500 tonnes of petroleum products in three vessels in February without authorisation.

It was not immediately clear if the products were to be taken out of Nigeria and if so, to which country they were headed.

Motorcyclist lures, rapes 11-yr-old for six months

The police have arrested a 38-year-old motorcyclist, Obinna Ekusaba, for allegedly raping a primary six pupil for six months in the Kirikiri area of Lagos State.

It was learnt that the incident happened from December, 2014, to May, 2015, on Karimu Street, Kirikiri Town.

Our correspondent learnt that the victim’s mother sold cigarette and alcoholic drinks in a motor park on the street.

Ekusaba, who usually parked his motorcycle at the park, was said to be one of her numerous customers.

She was said to be away on the fateful day when the suspect called the 11-year-old to bring a bottle of drink into an uncompleted building in the motor park.

SO SAD: Ebere, Nigeria’s ex-banker dies in US after two years on life support

Punch: A 25-year-old man, Tochukwu Madu, has set himself ablaze after a failed attempt to kill his mother with a cutlass.

SAD!!! MORE THAN 70 PEOPLE KILLED IN GHANA PETROL STATION FIRE

More than 70 people were killed in a fire at a petrol station in Ghana’s capital, Accra, as they sought shelter from heavy rains that caused widespread flooding, the police and Red Cross said Thursday. “This loss of life is catastrophic and almost unprecedented,” a visibly shaken President John Dramani Mahama said as he toured the scene.

Plenty of people have lost their lives and I am lost for words.” Communications minister Edward Omane Boamah described the situation as a “national emergency”. A senior police officer said that “the fire service alone has retrieved about 73 bodies,” while Red Cross disaster management coordinator Francis Obeng put the death toll at “more than 70″. 

Gang of six rapes two sisters in Lagos

Punch: Two sisters, Essiet, 18, and 20-year-old Debby (pseudonyms), have been raped by a gang of six men who accosted them in the Bariga area of Lagos State.

The victims were returning from a hospital in the Oworonsoki area last Thursday when they were attacked by the suspects.

It was learnt that while Essiet was deflowered by four men, her elder sister, Debby, was ravished by two of the hoodlums.

However, our correspondents learnt from a source that the matter was reported at the  Police Station and two of the suspects had been arrested.

Essiet described her experience as a nightmare.

She said, “It happened on May 21 around 11pm. My sister and I went to give food to a family member who had just given birth to a baby in Oworonsoki.

Senate passes anti-rape bill, 45 others in 10 minutes

Punch: THE 7th Senate, on the eve of its lifespan on Wednesday, passed 46 bills, among them the Sexual Offences Bill, which has been pending in the upper federal legislative chamber since 2013.

Wednesday’s session at the Senate became rowdy as senators hurriedly said ‘ayes’ to the 46 bills which will be transmitted to President Muhammadu Buhari for his assent.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Rules and Business, Senator Ita Enang, who introduced the bills said they had all been recently passed by the House of Representatives and sent to the Senate for concurrence.

Enang said the Senate had expended much resource on the processing of the bills and that they were needed to be passed before the 7th Senate is dissolved.
