FIFA President to visit Nigeria

The Nigeria Football Federation on Sunday announced that President of Federation of International Football Associations, Gianni Infantino, will visit Nigeria in June.

A statement issued in Abuja on Sunday by NFF’s Assistant Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, said that the visit was a fall-out of NFF President, Amaju Pinnick’s recent meeting with Infantino in Mexico.

Ronaldo’s mother caught with €45,000 at airport

Dolores Aveiro, the mother of Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, was stopped at Madrid’s Barajas Airport last month and caught carrying an illegally large amount of cash as she prepared to fly out of the country, the newspaper El Mundo reported.

According to The Telegraph, 60-year-old Aveiro, who spends long periods of time with her multimillionaire footballer son in his luxury mansion outside Madrid, was held by border police at Barajas after it was found that she had €55,000 (£40,000) in her hand luggage.

Unknown Gunmen reportedly attacked the bus conveying them to the airport. Thankfully, nobody was injured except for the bus driver.

Agbonavbare was a member of Nigeria’s U-21 Mexico 1983 Flying Eagles, 1984 AFCON silver medalist and 1994 AFCON gold medalist. Wilfred lost his wife three years ago to breast cancer.

Nigerian referee beaten so badly by IRATE football fans in Abuja

 

According to Sunrise Sports Executive producer, Toyin Ibitoye, a center referee named Charles Ozigbo (pictured above) was assaulted by Nigerian football fans during a match between Rangers Bee of Kaduna and Kwara United of Ilorin in Abuja yesterday December 19th. The referee was reportedly attacked after he gave a penalty to one of the clubs. The supporters of the opposing club entered the football field and attacked the referee bringing the match to a abrupt halt. The match was subsequently cancelled.
