First babies of 2014 born midnight and seconds after midnight in ANAMBRA STATE...

Anambra on Wednesday witnessed the birth of no fewer than 200 babies across the state, the wife to the Governor, Mrs Margret Obi while presenting gift items and undisclosed amount of cash to 15 of the babies in Awka has disclosed.

The gifts presentation ceremonies were done across the three senatorial zones of the state.

She urged the mothers to exclusively breastfeed the babies for at least six months.

The state’s first baby of the year was a female, named Chinemerem Ezinwanne, delivered at the Primary Health Centre, Awka, at exactly 12 a.m. and weighed 3.2kg.

Some of the items donated to the babies included diapers, toiletries, beverage, cartons of milk, clothes, sanitary pads and blankets.
