Popular pastor, Lazarus Muoka, battles ex-member over property

A businessman, Uba Emmanuel Abraham is entangled in a legal battle with a popular Lagos-based cleric, Pastor Lazarus Muoka of the Lord’s Chosen Church Inc., over some properties at Jakande Estate, Lagos State and Independence Layout Enugu, Enugu State.

Abraham, who accused the Lagos-based popular pastor of falsifying the documents of his (Abraham’s) independence Layout property at Enugu, Enugu State, in favour of his church, also alleged threats to his life.

But Muoka, through his lawyer, Mr, Obioma Oti, said Abraham had been paid for both properties.

Archbishop of Canterbury is stunned to discover he is the illegitimate son of Churchill's private secretary.

The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby has confirmed that he is the illegitimate son of a one-time private secretary to Winston Churchill.

Welby, the most senior figure in the Anglican Communion consisting of some 85million Christians globally, said the news had come as a 'complete surprise'.

The 60-year-old only made the discovery in the last four weeks - but insisted tonight he was not disturbed by it.

'In the last month I have discovered that my biological father is not whiskey salesman Gavin Welby but, in fact, the late Sir Anthony Montague Browne. 

'This comes as a complete surprise,' Welby said in a highly unusual statement issued through the Church of England.

WAHALA : Trouble looms in states over unpaid workers’ salaries

Trouble appears to be looming in several states of the federation between civil servants and the state governments due to the inability of the states to pay workers’ salaries.

Civil servants in many states have either just suspended their strike or in some states where they are still working, the labour movement in the states have declared their intention to go on strike.

Recently, while addressing the National Executive Council members of the All Progressives Congress, President Muhammadu Buhari, while lamenting the precarious state of the nation’s economy, said no fewer than 27 states of the federation were finding it difficult to pay workers’ salaries.

Buhari to sign loan deal with China ......

President Muhammadu Buhari will sign a loan deal with China during a visit next week as the Federal Government seeks funds to finance the over N2tn budget deficit

This is expected to help the government to finance badly-needed infrastructure projects.

Speaking to Reuters, the Special Adviser to the President on Media, Mr. Femi Adesina, said, “I can’t tell you how much until the day the loan will be signed. Both countries will also be signing some bilateral agreements to strengthen their relationship; that is all I can say now.”

Fuel Palaver: NSCDC officers kill petrol hawker, injure three

Source: There was confusion around the Forte Oil Petrol Station on 21 Road in the FESTAC Town area of Lagos State on Wednesday after officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps shot dead an alleged illegal fuel hawker, while three others sustained gunshot injuries.

It was gathered that the hawker, identified only as Emeka, was shot dead when the NSCDC men, said to be members of a  task force on curbing activities of black marketers, invaded the area around 1pm.

It was learnt that following an altercation between the task force and some fuel sellers, the NSCDC men opened fire on the fuel sellers.

While Emeka was said to have died on the spot, two others, identified as Smart Ogabor and Oladiran Atolagbe, were rushed to a hospital.

It was gathered that there was panic in the area as motorists and other fuel buyers fled from the AP bus stop, where the filling station was located.

It was learnt that it took efforts of policemen from the Area E Command to stop youths who wanted to stage a protest against the killing.

Missing kids found dead on church premises.......

There was panic at Matogun, in the Lambe area of Ogun State on Tuesday after the police recovered corpses of two missing pupils from a church in the community, Christ Crusaders’ Deliverance Ministry.

The deceased – six-year-old Isaac Ayegbo, a primary 2 pupil, and Ayomide Innocent, 4, who was in Nursery 1 – were reportedly found inside the church’s vehicle after they were declared missing on Sunday.

The deceased’s parents are neigbours.

It was reported that Ayomide’s mother, while travelling to the Republic of Benin on Friday, brought him to Isaac’s mother to look after him.

The children, after taking their lunch on Sunday, were playing outside Ayegbos’ residence, which was opposite the church, when they went missing.

The Peoples Democratic Party has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to stop blaming the opposition party for his failure.

Rather than accusing the PDP of being behind the challenges facing the country, the opposition party said the President should settle down and work.

It said it was wrong for the President to still be blaming the PDP 11 months after he assumed office.

The National Chairman of the party, Ali Modu Sheriff, said this at the party’s secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday.

Sheriff, who was a former governor of Borno State, said the All Progressives Congress claimed to have solutions to the nation’s problems, saying this was why it was voted into power by Nigerians instead of the PDP.

He spoke during the inauguration of the four committees set up by the party.

The committees are national convention committee, finance committee, reconciliation committee and zoning committee.

Sheriff was apparently replying to the claim by the President that the PDP failed to save for the rainy day throughout the 16 years it ruled the country.

Hoodlums kill man buying fuel at filling station......SO SAD!!!!

Punch: While vehicles queued to buy fuel at Total Petrol Station on Kano Street, in the Oyingbo area of Lagos State, some hoodlums stormed the area, dragged away a man, identified only as Sijuade, and slit his throat.

Sijuade, an upholstery artisan, was stabbed in the eyes before the hoodlums killed him.

This incident occurred on Friday at about 6am.

It was gathered that Sijuade had come with some friends to the filling station to buy fuel in jerrycans. The hoodlums, however, killed him.

It was learnt that two days after the killing, some gunmen on Sunday stormed Ondo Street by Cemetery Junction, waylaid another young man, identified only as Toheeb, and shot him dead.

The scarcity of petrol got worse in many parts of the country on Monday despite assurances by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation that the situation would improve.

Lagos, which traditionally receives more product than other parts of the country, was virtually grounded on Monday as only few vehicles moved about, with many passengers stranded at bus stops, while queues of desperate motorists stretched for kilometres at the few filling stations that had the product to sell, and partially blocked major roads.

The same situation was recorded in the Federal Capital Territory, Osogbo, Abeokuta, Ibadan, Minna, Maiduguri, Bauchi, Ado Ekiti and Benin City, among others.

Khloe Kardashian is concerned her estranged husband Lamar Odom could die if she goes ahead with plans to divorce the former basketball star, according to reports.

The reality star, 31, has been there for Lamar, 36, ever since the news broke that he had overdosed on drugs and alcohol at a Nevada brothel last October.

But recent revelations that Lamar is drinking once again and refusing to undergo treatment has allegedly led her to question the impact she can have on his continued recovery.

TMZ reports that Khloe is keen to proceed with divorcing Lamar but feels a 'tremendous amount of guilt' as it could lead to further substance issues.

Saudi Arabia has executed 82 people already this year - including 47 on one day.

Saudi Arabia executed a citizen convicted of murder on Thursday, bringing the total number of death sentences to 82 this year in the ultra-conservative kingdom.

Mohammed al-Khaweir al-Qahtani was found guilty of shooting dead Hussein al-Shayeb al-Qahtani following a dispute, the interior ministry said.

The British government has been urged by human rights group to put pressure on Saudi Arabia to halt their brutal use of capital punishment.

Surprised Indian mother gives birth to FIVE daughters through natural delivery in just over 30 MINUTES after thinking she was pregnant with just one child.

A mother who went into hospital expecting to give birth to one baby was more than a little surprised just over half an hour later when she had five daughters.

When Manita Singh was rushed into hospital at just 26 weeks pregnant after she began to complain of labour pains, she feared the worse.

The 25-year-old had lost her first son shortly after he was born two years earlier, and she now faced the prospect of losing this baby as well.

At 11am, the doctors at the local government hospital in Ambikapur, in Chhattisgarh in eastern India, delivered the first little girl naturally at 11am - swiftly followed by her four sisters.

Budget delay: Nigerians slam president Buhari

A cross-section of Nigerians on Friday flayed President Muhammadu Buhari over the delay in signing the 2016 budget.

They said it was embarrassing that the President could still be delaying the signing of the budget even after the first quarter of the year was over.

According to them, the delay signifies the President’s inefficiency and lack of preparation for serious governance.

Attempts by many candidates to apply for enlistment into the Nigeria Police Force were frustrated on Friday as the two police portals for the recruitment crashed and were inaccessible for most part of the day.

The Police Service Commission had directed interested candidates to apply through its website, www.psc.gov.ng or that of the Nigeria Police Force, www.npf.gov.ng, but the two websites crashed due to huge traffic.

It was gathered that many candidates could not apply online at different cyber cafés and had to go back home in frustration.

TRAGIC: 22 die in India bridge collapse

No fewer than 22 persons were killed on Thursday after a bridge under construction in Kolkata, India, collapsed.

At least 70 people were also reportedly injured in the incident which happened in a busy part of the Girish Park area.

The injured were admitted to two hospitals in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal state, the Associated Press quoted officials.

CNN reports that authorities put the number of the dead at 22 while several others were still trapped in the rubble.

An official of India’s National Disaster Management Authority, Maj. Gen. Anurag Gupta, told CNN on Thursday evening that authorities had yet to know how many people were driving across the bridge when it fell.
